Who Are We

The Maryland Department of Disabilities (MDOD) coordinates and improves services for Marylanders with disabilities. By partnering with other state agencies, MDOD ensures that government programs are inclusive, consistent, and accessible.

MDOD helps individuals live independently and participate fully in their communities by focusing on:

  • Accessible housing and transportation
  • Employment and youth transition programs
  • Community living and barrier-free environments
  • Assistive technology

These initiatives also boost the state's economy by creating a diverse workforce and providing the practical supports people need to work and succeed.

Mission To ensure no Marylander is left behind by promoting equal opportunity, access, and choice for people with disabilities.

Vision A Maryland where all people with disabilities have the knowledge and influence to shape their own lives and impact others.
